How is an object's token formatted?

Each object on the Marqeta platform includes a token field that stores the unique identifier for that object. By default, each token is formatted as a UUID that is unique for that resource. However, these UUIDs are not unique between resources--a card and a cardproduct can share the same UUID token.

You can optionally define your own token value when creating an object on the Marqeta platform. For example, to define the token while creating a user, send the following POST request to /users:

{
"token":"myUser"
}

You cannot update the value of a token after it has been created.
